An instant #1 New York Times bestseller!
The global phenomenon by Callie Hart–a highly addicting enemies-to-lovers Romantasy with razor-sharp banter, heart-stopping action, and blistering hot romance–now has an embossed cover, silver foiling, and an updated interior design.

Do not touch the sword. Do not turn the key. Do not open the gate.

Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses, or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs for as long as she can remember. In the land of the unforgiving desert, there isn’t much a girl wouldn’t do for a glass of water. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone.

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares…but it turns out they’re real, and Saeris has landed right in the middle of a centuries-long conflict that might just get her killed.

The first of her kind to tread the frozen mountains of Yvelia in over a thousand years, Saeris mistakenly binds herself to Kingfisher, a handsome Fae warrior, who has secrets and nefarious agendas of his own. He will use her Alchemist’s magic to protect his people, no matter what it costs him… or her. Death has a name. It is Kingfisher of the Ajun Gate. His past is murky. His attitude stinks. And he’s the only way Saeris is going to make it home.

Be careful of the deals you make, dear child. The devil is in the details…

kingfisher the man that you are!!!!

i’ll be SAT waiting for the rest of the books. when i tried reading this in september it wasn’t the right time, so I paused and waited for the audio. and omg that was my best decision!!! the duet narration was SOOO GOOD. ate it up.

i will say personally, ✨carrion swift is my favorite✨

2. YAZ reviews for Quicksilver

My soul was on fire, and I didn’t care if I burned for all eternity. So long as I was burning with him, then so be it.

Quicksilver is a mash-up of everything I adore in fantasy romance. The banter and sexual tension was top-notch. That ENDING had my jaw drop.

I highly recommend the audiobook (I did a tandem read with the ebook and audiobook) the narrators did such a splendid job and gave life to the characters. I was LIVING FOR THAT BICKERING!

The author fleshes out the lore and magic system in a way that wasn’t overwhelming to me, so I appreciate that.

If you’re looking for a fun fantasy adventure with a sizzling romance (man the spice was spicin’) and found family, then this is definitely a must-read.

I will say bear with some of the lore dump as it’s necessary to set the foundation for the rest of the series (will it be a series? Trilogy? Or duology? Haven’t checked yet).

The ending has me very hyped for the next book!

Content warning: explicit scenes, graphic violence, mention of death of loved ones some which were pretty violent (descriptive).

3. EMMY ROSAM reviews for Quicksilver

4.75 ⭐️ Prepare to be sick of me because I’m going to be raving about this book for the foreseeable future!!!!!

I think you’ll be seeing a lot of hype around this book (and for good reason). I genuinely had to force myself to put this book down after repeatedly telling myself ‘just one more chapter’. The writing style had me hooked and the magic system in this book was so unique for a fae story. Some parts are predictable (standard for the genre) but others really surprised me. I am also a tiny bit obsessed with Kingfisher now!!!!!

Can’t wait for book 2 in October, this could be a new fav series for me.

4. JENN HUNTER reviews for Quicksilver

An Instant Favorite! 🔥🖤🥵

Quicksilver became an instant

enemies-to-lovers Romantasy favorite. It was non stop from beginning to end, with twists and turns I didn’t see coming! There was laughter, tears and a perfect amount of spice that had me on the edge of my seat wanting more. Kingfisher and Saeris have an amazing development (as do most of the characters). Carrion is the absolute best, between his jokes and actually learning about his past he is an absolute amazing character! And then you have Kingfisher!!!!! What can I say other than he is the ultimate shadow daddy! From his brooding to the way he truly deeply loves, he is just an absolute amazing MMC!

Cannot Wait to continue reading their story!!!

5. JENNIFER DYCHE reviews for Quicksilver

A must read!

Quicksilver is a captivating tale that weaves together elements of fantasy, adventure, and a touch of the supernatural. This is one of those stories that lingers in your mind long after the final page, begging to be revisited.

The story follows Saeris Fane, a young woman with a mysterious past and extraordinary powers. When a fateful encounter with Death thrusts her into the realm of the Fae, she finds herself embroiled in a centuries-old conflict. The author masterfully builds a rich and immersive world, filled with both wonder and danger. The contrast between the harsh desert landscape and the icy mountains of Yvelia is striking, adding depth to the narrative.

Saeris’s journey is both thrilling and introspective. Her character development is compelling, as she grapples with her newfound abilities and the weight of her choices. Her relationship with Kingfisher, a complex and enigmatic figure, adds layers of intrigue to the story. The author expertly balances moments of high-stakes action with quieter, character-driven scenes.

One of the most captivating aspects of Quicksilver is its exploration of the consequences of power and the importance of trust. Saeris’s journey serves as a reminder that even the most well-intentioned actions can have unforeseen consequences. The author’s skillful use of foreshadowing and plot twists keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end.

In conclusion, Quicksilver is a must-read for fans of fantasy and adventure. Its rich world-building, compelling characters, and thrilling plot make it a standout novel. This is a story that will stay with you long after you turn the final page, making it a book you’ll want to return to again and again.

6. MEGAN BAJOREK reviews for Quicksilver

Brain Cannot Process How Good This Book Is…

When I say this book shocked my brain, I’m not exaggerating. Although a slow start, the book engages your mind with familiar aspects of the genre but weaves in delicious twists and turns that are truly unique to this author and world. It only took 20 pages for me to cancel my plans, read between traffic lights (just kidding), read while cooking and ignore my husband for an entire two days. I even stayed up late reading, fell asleep, got a good 6 hours of sleep and immediately resumed reading. The world building, division between races and political power plays just captivated me! Oh and don’t forget the spice, which was oh so nice!

The characters are all likeable and the villains are truly villainous but you oddly like them for exactly what they are; destined to be destroyed for the atrocities they committed and in no way redeemable but also formidable. The banter among characters is fun, witty and sometimes has just the right level of smoulder.

Saeris and Fisher are lively and colorful but also so conplex that I can’t wait to dig in more to their story in the future. Carrion and Ren, too, have bigger roles to play and I’m anxious to know more because I’m always 100% here for the loveable right hand man and the rougish, loveable scoundrel.

The book has the right level of mystery and well timed breadcrumb reveals as well as HUGE revelations that were sometimes shocking and sometimes a fantastic pay off for early on fan theories. ( I love when I guess something correctly but how it plays out surprises me; the best of both worlds).

Although the story ends with somewhat of a nice tied up bow, it leaves you wanting more and more especially now that the pieces are moving, villains revealed, gods out of play and characters tied together by love, fate, blood and power.

October 2025 please come soon!

7. YVONNE DERRIG reviews for Quicksilver

Emotional Rollercoaster of the Most Delicious Variety

Callie Hart has stolen my heart with this book, and I am not sure how I can recover. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, scream, or yell. I have read hundreds, if not thousands, of books in my lifetime thus far, but none of them has ever made me FEEL the way I feel right now. I am so unequivocally devastated I have to wait so long for the next book to come out! I am not okay… I have always been able to immerse myself in any book I’ve read (a gift really), and forget the outside world exists. I’ve always come out the other side able to define or describe what I feel or how it affects me, but Quicksilver has plunged me into an unknown place where I’m unable to express my feelings, thoughts, or emotions…. But only in the best way possible! If I could give this work of art a rating of 10/10 stars, even 100/100 stars, it would not begin to describe the depths of how I felt this story in my soul! I have never had a book touch me as much as this one has! Saeris and Kingfisher are both drool worthy characters, and I absolutely adore their banter, as well as the banter throughout the book. Saeris is the badass FMC unable to turn down a challenge. She may come from humble beginnings, but her strength and power are immense and watching her grow into those is something to admire. Kingfisher is the dark, broody, mysterious MMC that can destroy worlds, but saves one reckless girl. There are several significant minor characters that stand out and I cannot wait to see what comes their way next.

8. RENEE RINARD reviews for Quicksilver

Immersive story and well, Kingfisher.

Basing this review off the audiobook, as I was constantly recommended to use the audiobook for Quicksilver.
I’m normally not one to use audiobooks, but the VA’s did AMAZING. (and Kingfisher’s voice actor Anthony Palmini had such an amazing range of voices and I adored each of them but ESPECIALLY Fisher’s)

The story started off slow, there was a lot of world building, relationship building, ground building, which while for some, it takes time, it’s too long of a buildup, I loved it. It suffocated me in the world and it’s surroundings.
I was absolutely devoured into the world (while at work) listening to Saeris’s trials and how one thing after another chased after her, but those first words by Fisher had me in a chokehold and I was down for the count.

There was quite a few times I had to go back, because suddenly there was so much happening and I was felt like I was missing pieces but, it’s such a ride, it’s such a rollercoaster. Kingfisher is definitely high on the book boyfriend, and his little one liners that didn’t get enough attention melted my heart. Their banter, and the huge enemies to lovers trope is my absolute weakness. (Thanks, trying to hide my smile while doing boring as sin work related stuff is super fun)

Oshellith.
“You are a good thief.”
“seven gods” 🙂
(among plenty more)

I highly recommend. It takes time. It gets WILD towards the end, just.. and seeing the interactions and just getting anxiety as I knew something was coming.. something big was coming and it had me scrambling, it was such an adventure. I can’t comment on the ending, I never like endings. I’m (im)patiently waiting till November with my preorder.

I would recommend if you want a new shadow daddy. (Carrion works too) 😉

9. LAUREN MOORE reviews for Quicksilver

I might as well stop reading now because I’ve found my favorite fantasy book of the year.

After seeing BookTok gush over Quicksilver, I decided to give this book a whirl. I went in completely blind, and I’m so glad I did.

This book has everything you could ever want in a romantasy book, and then some. A Katniss Everdeen-like protagonist? Check. A messy-haired, chisel-jawed, morally grey fae love interest? Absolutely. Vampires, witches, and intricate world-building? You betcha!

But Quicksilver goes even deeper than those surface-level elements. Its magic system is complex and fascinating, with attributes I haven’t encountered before. The side characters are interesting and multi-dimensional. The dialogue feels authentic, and even though the stakes are incredibly high, I found myself laughing out loud at times thanks to jokes made by Carrion, my favorite character.

Do I recommend this book? WHOLEHEARTEDLY. It’s long, and I never wanted it to end, which to me is the ultimate sign of a great book. I can’t wait for the sequel.

10. DEE reviews for Quicksilver

I love this book it is one of my top favourite read this year along with Phantasma 💜 the beginning was full of action and immediately got me hooked into the story. Afterward it was a bit slow but worth it as I got to learn more about the FMC and new characters. When Fisher appeared I was absolutely hooked even more this character is by far one of my favourite MMC characters ever!! 😍😍🥵🥵🔥🔥 the teasing, flirting and smut in this book was absolute fire!! The chemistry and build up of the relationship between Fisher & Saeris Fane was perfectly timed and so cute I really enjoyed reading about them they are definitely well suited for each other. I wouldn’t say this was an enemies to lovers as they weren’t really enemies there was way too much flirting and teasing going on but it was not cringey at all. Instead it was fun and even funny at times these characters are enjoyable to read about. Kingfisher also explains things toward the end of the book about his treatment of Saeris in the beginning.

I really enjoyed reading from Saeris POV she is a strong character and one of my favourite FMC. Also her reactions are hilarious when the others say silly things or joke around her. The world building and other character relationships were also quite strong in this book. There are quite a lot of favourites in it and the way they joke and make conversation made me laugh a lot especially the sarcastic comments and joking around. saeris was a thief in a desert world where water is extremely limited and stolen. But it quickly interesting with Saeris’ ability to manipulate the Quicksilver. This skill becomes useful in the upcoming war. For some of quicksilver isn’t handled correctly it can drive them insane.

Quicksilver has some great plot twists and a fun ending. It wasn’t packed with action all the way through but imo it didn’t have to be when you read it you’ll get what I mean the characters made the book enjoyable I couldn’t put it down. I should add toward the end of the book my heart was racing as I was nervous about the outcome of the situation the characters were in. I looooooove this book and highly recommend it. I can’t wait for book 2!! 😁💜

Quicksilver Quotes by Callie Hart

The best book quotes from Quicksilver by Callie Hart

“Don’t call her Sunshine,” he commanded. “Why not?” If Carrion’s plan was to poke the bear, then he sure as hell knew how to go about it. But Kingfisher didn’t respond to the taunting note in his question. He just cocked his head a little, nostrils flaring, and spoke in a low rumble. “Because she is moonlight. The mist that shrouds the mountains. The bite of electricity in the air before a storm. The smoke that rolls across a battlefield before the killing starts. You have no idea what she is. What she could be. You should call her Majesty.”

“Careful, human. We Fae have an excellent sense of smell. You’d be amazed what we can scent floating on the air.”

“For those who live their nightmares so that others may have their dreams.”

“Nobody will ever fuck you the way I’m about to fuck you, Saeris Fane. I’m about to introduce you to all seven gods. When you meet them, don’t forget to tell them I’m the one you worship on your knees.”

“I don’t want bright and happy,” he whispered roughly. “I want real.”

“I’ll be grateful for every second that I can say that I belong to you, Saeris Fane. Eighty years or eighteen hours. It doesn’t matter to me. It’ll still be the highest honor of my life.”

“He is the storm. You are the peace that must come after it. Tell me, do you believe in the fates, Alchemist?”

“Fuck the fates. They don’t get to decide shit for me. I decide what my future is going to be.”

“I’ll be grateful for every second that I can say I belong to you, Saeris Fane.”

“Human, Fae, or Vampire. It doesn’t matter how long you live, Saeris, you will always be most sacred to me.”

“I’m in love with you, Saeris Fane,” he whispered quietly into my hair. “And I’m already half-mad, anyway. What’s a little complicated thrown into the mix?”

“Urgh! Do you have to be so difficult?”
His eyes danced. “It isn’t mandatory, but I do enjoy it.”

“Sure. Why not. I’m too pretty to die old, anyway.”

“Everlayne had been waiting for me when I returned to my room yesterday. She hadn’t banked on Kingfisher kicking in my bedroom door, me thrown over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and wailing like a banshee. Nor had she expected his ultra-foul temper, his split bottom lip, or the thin line of blood trickling down his chin. She’d squawked when he’d thrown me unceremoniously down onto my bed and snarled, “Bad human,” at me.”

“There is no way you can still smell me on him.” “There’s every way,” Fisher rumbled, his eyes darkening. “I’d know the smell of you anywhere. On anyone. I’d know it blind and in the dark. Across a fucking sea. I’d be able to scent you—”

“I hadn’t seen many beautiful things in my short life. But, of all the beautiful things I had seen, Fisher was the most beautiful of all.”

“Never forget… Monsters thrive best in the dark.”

“Fisher rested his chin on top of his forearms and sighed. “What?” I whispered. He thought for a moment, appearing to decide whether he’d answer the question. Then he said, “I was wrong, y’know. You are a good thief.” “What have I stolen?” But he smiled a small, sad smile, slowly shaking his head. “Sleep a little. The water will stay warm. I’ll be back as soon as I’ve spoken to Ren.”

“She has a mind and a mouth of her own. I am the keeper of neither.”

“Don’t you dare die on my watch, Saeris Fane! Fisher will never forgive me if his sole reason for living is torn to pieces on her first fucking battlefield.”

“Make me forget that I’ve ever suffered,” I commanded. “Make me forget that I will again.”

“Be unrelenting and unmerciful in the face of the wicked dead,” Fisher said. Ren laid a steadying hand on my shoulder. “And if you should find soul sundered from flesh, order a drink for us at the first tavern you come across in the afterlife. We’ll settle the tab when we get there.”

“Every warrior in Innìr will smell me on you, Fisher’s voice rumbled in my mind. I’m going to make you hoarse from screaming my fucking name. I’m going to mark you in every way imaginable, so that everyone knows you’re fucking mine.”

“For those who live their nightmares,
so that others may have their dreams.”

“Kingfisher considered me, one eyebrow curving with interest. “Are you thinking about running? Gods, I hope so. I’ll give you a head start if you like. It’s been an age since I’ve hunted anything.”

“An Oshellith is a type of butterfly,” he called as he went. “Osha for short. They hatch, live, and die all in one day. The cold kills them very fast. Isn’t that right, Renfis?”

“That’s what Oshellith means in Old Fae, Saeris. Most Sacred.”

“It’s a fox! A pest! This is probably what was living in the hearth before we ripped that den out. They steal food from the kitchens.” The creature wasn’t nearly as hideous as I’d first thought. I darted forward, stooping low, covering the little thing with my body, gripped by a sudden remorse. “You definitely can’t kill it then. Not if we destroyed its home.” “It’s going to bite you,” Kingfisher said. “No, it won’t. It—” It bit me.”

“Right. Sure.” Humans and Fae were different in many ways, but sarcasm was universal.”

“I sobbed. The name he gave me, the name I hated, was a declaration of what I meant to him even then.”

“Death is an open doorway that’s meant to be walked through. On the other side of it lies peace. Count yourself lucky that you get to make the journey at all.”

“For those who live their nightmares so that others may have their dream.”

“I can smell you, Little Osha, and I’m thinking about drinking the sweet nectar you’re making for me straight from the fucking cup.”

“Kingfisher was smart. He could be an angry, arrogant, half-mad, outrageously handsome piece of shit and an intelligent tactician at the same time. Turned out the two weren’t mutually exclusive.”

“I don’t enjoy hurting people. I don’t like it at all. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t necessary. To avoid far more serious pain, sometimes we have to endure a little sting. Sometimes, some of us have to inflict it.”
