1. JENNIFER KYLE reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
”For once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will long to return…”
Paisley is faced with a huge medical decision of either getting a pace maker or going through a very risky surgery. She takes her time deciding which makes her parents and friends crazy because her health seems to be deteriorating daily. Paisley suffers from a heart condition that tragically her twin sister died from. She doesn’t want to jump to any hasty choices and in the meantime she has a bucket list that she is trying to get through.
Paisley has been dating her deceased sister’s best friend, Carter for a few years. Things seem stable and safe with Carter but when Mr. California saves her from drowning at the beach she finds that her feelings for Carter aren’t anything compared to the desire and attraction she has for this hot blonde.
Mr. California turns out to be Jagger, Carter’s rival in flight school. Paisley tries her darnedest to keep Jagger in the friend zone but who could blame her, he is absolutely irresistible.
”One kiss brought my world tumbling down around me. One kiss transformed me into something I hated and broke the man I loved in pieces.”
Paisley makes a decision about her relationship with Carter and I must mention that all the supporting characters in this story were very likable and I’m hoping that some get their own books.
Jagger and Paisley hold a lot of important information from one another and it comes back to bit them both.
“We should have told each other a lot of things.”
Overall, this love story was well done but I did get a bit bored with Paisley heart condition decisions and her failure to tell Jagger. Still, it was a good read and I enjoyed the flight school aspects immensely and that sexy-sweet Jagger!
”Loving Paisley had the same effect on me as my first helicopter ride – I simply knew where I was supposed to be, whom I was supposed to become, and I was meant to be hers.”

2. ANNIE BREWER reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
Oh. My. God! This gem of a book was just…indescribable! It was so much more than I thought it could be. It consumed me. Broke me. Repaired me. And I couldn’t ask for more. The story is such a beautiful and heartbreaking tale of loss, love and the ability to live for the now. Because you never know when you’ll take your last breath. So don’t waste the life you’re given now, because it’s all we have. This story captivated me from the first word. And I was sucked into Paisley and Jagger’s emotional turmoil-both struggling with pasts that haunt them. But together? They’re indestructible. They’re fearless. They’re determined. And God, they’re both so beautiful inside and out.
These characters owned me. Not just Jagger and Paisley, but they’re friends and family. Well, mostly Paisley’s family. But Jagger’s best friends, Josh Walker and Grayson and even Carter really stole the show for me. Each of them, flawed and willing to stick by each other. I mean, they’re all pilots…totally hot! Jagger melted both my heart and panties. He was incredible. But it was his tenacity, determination and loyalty to Paisley that made me fall as hard for him as Paisley did. She is one lucky lady.
There’s just so much to this story that I don’t want to ruin anything, which is why I’m laughing because this is more of a rambling raving review than an actual review. Yes, there’s plenty of angst, hot sex and puncturing of lungs. Plenty of secrets and drama that makes the story entertaining. So much was going on but you never felt confused. Jagger and Paisley both have distinctive voices, so you followed along just perfectly. But rest assured, it meant you felt their heartache right along with them. Your heart will be in your throat. You’ll cry, laugh, swoon like crazy and then cry some more. Oh what a true beauty this was.
Since it’s not out until next month, I’ll keep my review short and sweet. I’ll just cover the basics and say; when it comes out, I’m buying it. I thank Netgalley for providing me with an ARC and can’t express how happy I was to stumble upon this book I had no clue about. But damn, did I gobble up this story. It was just beautiful, all soul-consuming, and profound. It just was. I can’t even think right now. The last 30% was soul-crushing and I couldn’t hardly see the screen through my tears. I had to stop several times to catch my breath and wipe my face. Only to have my face drenched in sorrow again. But it was worth every bit of it.
Every. Single. Tear.
These two have left an imprint on my heart. I am so happy I got to read this book. Yet I’m so sad that it’s over. I loved these characters as if they were my friends. I really rooted for them. I begged the stars that my fictional friends would get their happy ending, after all they’ve endured during this however-many-pages novel. They each suffered so much in their lives and they deserved some semblance of normal…happy. But I won’t go into the ending. My heart hurts too much, but not all bad. Damn, I just ramble too much.
I highly recommend this book to those who love a good riveting and sexy tale. Yeah, it wasn’t just tear-jerking and heart pounding in fear. It was H. O. T. Damn, Jagger is so flipping sexy. He’s a definite book boyfriend contender. And he’d be close to the top. There was some humor mixed in with the heartache, so that was great. I’ll never forget this story. And I hope others will add this to their shelves, because it deserves to be experienced. Thanks again Netgalley; I sometimes love the crap out of you. Even if you do decline my requests sometimes. It’s books like these that make it all worth it.

3. RENEEM reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
Emotional rollercoaster but full of heart and the kind of love you live for!
4.5⭐️
Book 2 did not disappoint! Emotional, heartwarming, and did I mention emotional?…I loved Jagger and Paisley.
Living with the same heart condition as her late sister, Paisley feels smothered by the concern and care of those closest to her. She decides to start checking things off her bucket list, no matter how dangerous it gets. When she almost drowns, Jagger Bateman dives in and saves her life. The connection is instantaneous but she’s unavailable. Jagger has never met anyone like Paisley but as the girlfriend of his flight school rival and the daughter of his commanding general, the odds are stacked against them. Jagger can’t afford distractions but he thinks Paisley just might be worth it. Paisley needs to decide whether to risk everything on the reckless, pilot with secrets or to chose the safe, stable option that just might keep her alive.
Rebecca Yarros did it again! I was on the edge of my seat and all the secrets tore open my heart and emotions. I loved the added dual POV in this book and Jagger with his guarded, traumatic past was all in on Paisley in best way. I just love these characters and how they’re dealing with huge, hard life. It is written so well and in such a real, organized way that I feel like I’m living it with the characters. There wasn’t quite a full miscommunication trope, just a keeping secrets situation but it stressed me out, especially since it affected Paisley’s life. Regardless, this was another excellent story that filled me with all the emotions from tears to butterflies. Highly recommend.
4. MARIAN BARTOLOME reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
A great book to close the year right!
So, this is my first time to post a review on Amazon, but I loved this book so much, I couldn’t NOT spread the word about it to everyone else.
I first fell in love with Rebecca Yarros’ writing in Full Measures. Ember and Josh’s love story tugged at my heartstrings something fierce. I cried several times while reading, sighed happily at the ending, and read it again. I thought it would be a tall order for Rebecca to top what she did in that book.
Then I read Eyes Turned Skyward. It’s the story of Jagger, whom we met in Full Measures as Josh’s player best friend, and how he lost his heart to Paisley, who’s suffering from a broken heart—and I mean that quite literally. They met when Jagger breathed life into Paisley—again, literally—after she nearly drowned. That dramatic intro set the tone for the rest of the story. Paisley and Jagger were immediately drawn to each other. Problem is Paisley has a boyfriend, who just happens to be Jagger’s rival at flight school. To make matters worse, Paisley’s dad is the commanding general, and Jagger isn’t exactly known as an exemplary student. And as if those weren’t bad enough, Paisley’s hiding a life-threatening heart condition from Jagger, while he’s got some secrets of his own.
All that conflict makes for a heck of a lot of drama, but not once did I feel like there was unnecessary angst or that things were inserted in the story as fillers. Everything was there for a reason, and even the title had a special significance that I hadn’t expected. Rebecca’s writing flowed smoothly with beautiful imagery and meaningful, engrossing dialogue.
But really, the stars of this story were the characters. I was taken with Jagger in Full Measures, but I fell in love with him here. He’s the rebel with a heart of gold. Yes, he’s got the gorgeous looks and the hot bod going for him, but he’s even more gorgeous inside. His sense of honor and loyalty to his loved ones is amazing, and I love how he’s not afraid to lay his heart on the line. A lot of my highlighted quotes were said by Jagger. That guy seriously had a way with words, and he’s not a slouch in the actions department too.
Paisley’s his perfect match. She’s beautiful and kind, and even though the world’s knocking her down, she’s not afraid to come up kicking. She has incredible inner strength, and I couldn’t help but be moved by her struggles with her lukewarm boyfriend, overbearing parents, and her seemingly impossible dreams for herself. Her favorite quote was Shakespeare’s “And though she be but little, she is fierce,” and it fit her to a tee. Both main characters were strong and lovable and flawed, which made them all the more relatable. And the chemistry between them was undeniable. I loved that they started off as friends and how their connection deepened as they got to know each other.
The great thing about this book was that even the secondary characters were well-developed. Each of them had their own unique personality. Of course, there’s Josh and Ember again, but there’s also Jagger’s housemate Grayson, who’s mostly silent but speaks when it counts most, Paisley’s parents, who come off as extremely overprotective (especially her mom) but mean well (especially her dad), and Paisley’s best friend Morgan, who’s boy-crazy but the most dependable friend she has. And then there’s Will, the boyfriend. I disliked him for more than half of the story, but he redeems himself in the end, and I sure hope I get to read about him finding his own happy ending.
So yes, there was a lot of drama, but the payoff was more than satisfying. This book took me through Paisley and Jagger’s journey of growth and self-discovery, and it drew me into their lives and emotions. It was more than worth the $0.99 I paid for it, and I would gladly pay more, because this is a gem of a story that I’ll surely read again and again. Rebecca Yarros is officially one of my newest favorite authors. I can’t wait to read her next book, which she says will be Grayson’s story—yay!
5. MY2CENTS reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
a wonderfully written story that had me hooked
I literally couldn’t put this book down. There were times that I got a little impatient with her not telling him but overall this was a wonderfully written story that had me hooked. The writer successfully delivered a hero to me that was cocky, arrogant, tough, but still managed to be a hero this reader **points to self** could fall for. (well, except for the tongue ring and the tats, those aren’t my style but the rest of the package was swoon worthy ;)….) I admittedly have a weakness for these type of “bad boy” hero’s, and Jagger embodied them all.
The plot was a slow but steady pace, nothing felt too rushed or drawn out and was void of overly contrived drama. I enjoyed to build-up of their relationship, it had a matureness to it, a realness. Never once did I question the love between them; it never felt like a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am.
The sub characters were interesting enough that I would read any stories they might have. In fact, I just downloaded Josh & Ember’s story. I would very likely read this again!
6. CLAIRE reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
4.5 – “The best things are worth the burn.” Stars.
Rebecca Yarros got herself an Insta-fan with me after I finished reading Full Measures it is a book I read with my heart in my mouth and a tissue at my eyes. So you can imagine my joy at seeing that this wonderful author had another book due up for release. Eyes Turned Skyward is loosely connected to Full Measures but you don’t need to read it to understand anything from Paisley and Jagger’s story, this book is wholly their own. I would however recommend that you do, because it is a bloody marvelous book!
”No one is friends like we are.”
This book, like its predecessor, grabs you from the offset, and doesn’t let you go. Rebecca has a way of interweaving the characters stories together, and throwing in little plot twists that keep you guessing right up until the end. At the beginning you sense that Paisley and Jagger both have more to their stories and backgrounds than the information that is immediately provided, and you are not wrong.
What surprised me is just how deep and far their pasts go, and how much a difference every revelation could potentially make to each of them and their blossoming relationship. This isn’t a light fluffy book. Paisley and Jagger are both dealing with some pretty serious issues, some personal, a lot familial, but I didn’t finish it bummed out, it is a book that lifts you, makes you think about life and the people around you, and appreciate the things you have.
I loved this book, I loved the characters, it’s not overly angsty, but the drama and romance is absolutely stellar. Rebecca Yarros is an absolutely outstanding talent, probably the best new author I have discovered in 2014. I want more, I want it now, and I want it in plentiful amounts (I know that I am not going to get that, but it is the season of magic and sparkle and a girl can wish!)
You’re my only Little Bird.”

” If it’s between being numb for the rest of my life or burning exquisitely for even a moment, I’ll take the burn the best things in life are worth the burn, the risk. ”
❤️ loved this one with my whole heart! ❤️. I was intrigued by Jagger when I stumbled across this authors Debut novel Full Measures . I love my broken bad boys and this one was amazing. Jagger had a heart of pure gold. Swoon ! Book Butterly attacked hardcore and took flight.

8. BEA reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
Received ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am always a little nervous to start a book when I receive it as an ARC because I feel this sense of obligation to read it to completion even if I may not like it all that much, and then to come up with a review that does the book justice whether it is good or bad. There are times that I get lucky and I immediately get sucked in by the story and its characters; that’s when the obligation becomes an absolute pleasure. Reading Eyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca Yarros was one of those times. This is the second book I’ve read by Rebecca Yarros and I’m super happy to say that she is no one hit wonder in my eyes. I actually enjoyed reading Eyes Turned Skyward more than Full Measures and I liked that one a lot. I can easily connect with her writing style. She has this great ability to create these beautiful love stories and amazing characters. I love that her secondary characters don’t take up too much of our reading time and take away the spotlight from our MCs, but they’re still present enough to draw you to them and leave you wanting to know more about them (HINT Rebecca – I want you to write a book about Will, Morgan and Grayson). Her characters are not shallow or immature. There is so much more to them than a pretty package. I love getting to know them, as well as, reading about their journey to happily ever after. And what an emotional journey it was. If you’re worried about cheating, don’t be. Rebecca did a great job at keeping our h’s integrity and upholding her morals. There is the inevitable moment where a line is crossed, but not the whole nine yards, and even then there was immediate honesty that followed. The H was all that and a bag of chips. The h was one lucky girl let me tell you. He really put himself out there for her. I hate it when the h does all the chasing. It was extremely nice to read about how both the H/h loved each other unconditionally and how much effort the H had to put in to win the h’s love. The chemistry was pretty intense right from the start. I highly recommend this book. If there was one thing I’d have to pick at, I’d say it was the title. Thinking and saying the title out loud doesn’t flow nicely, but besides that, there isn’t a thing about this book that I didn’t like. I will most definitely purchase it when it is released and put in my Kindle under favorites. Rebecca has most definitely been added to my “stalk for upcoming books” list.
9. NICOLA reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
Rebecca Yarros’ first book, Full Measures blew me away so I had high expectations for Eyes Turned Skyward. They were met, as once again she has created a stunning read that stirred my emotions, and whilst it holds moments that wrench your heart, granted not quite as deeply as its predecessor, I still required a tissue or two.
We met Jagger in the first book; Josh’s best friend, they’re now at flight school together. Sexy and a player he’s focussed on his dream of flying an Apache. Paisley has a life-threatening heart defect but is determined to complete her bucket-list. Sick of her parents and boyfriend wrapping her up in cotton wool, she first meets Jagger when he saves her life and they have an instant chemistry. Problem is she’s his commanding officer’s daughter and is dating his class rival, Will – as they say the course of true love never did run smooth.
I adored them. I felt their joy, pain, hard times and happiness. Paisley’s determination is both frustrating and humbling, but she is in a heartbreaking situation and her actions are understandable. Jagger is a patient, thoughtful, gentle guy and, whilst not without his own secrets, the man is honest and wears his heart on his sleeve. I fell completely in love with him.
Eyes Turned Skyward absorbed me and reinforced the fact that Rebecca Yarros is a truly gifted author. I look forward to seeing what journey she takes her reader on next because her books are easily up there as two of my favourite reads of 2014.

10. LINDA reviews for Eyes Turned Skyward
I am really digging this author!
This is the second book I have read in this series- which by the way are complete standalones- and I have really enjoyed both of them. I think I liked the first book just a little better, because well, Josh. Although, Jagger is a very close second. And up next is Grayson…can’t wait for that one! 🙂
I really like how this author tells a story. I love how she creates the perfect amount of angst and sexual tension. I love that things take time to develop and small pieces of the past are slowly revealed.
Jagger was a fantastic male lead and Paisley really grew on me after about the 80% mark. In the end I was all in for these two characters!
I am so glad that I decided to start this series after having these books on my Kindle for a year or more! I will definitely be keeping my eye on books from this author in the future.
III. Eyes Turned Skyward Quotes

The best book quotes from Eyes Turned Skyward by Rebecca Yarros
“I love you, and it’s not the kind of love that wavers. It’s the scary kind that doesn’t fade. I look at you, and I see not just everything I want for my life, but everything I am, because you took the emptiest, dark pits of my soul and filled them with you. You are as much part of me as my own heart, and it doesn’t beat without you.”
“For once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you will long to return…”
“I’ve seen love burn someone to the ground, and I’ve seen it make sense of the ridiculous. I won’t settle for less than that kind of fire.”
“I want everything, Paisley. I want your smiles, your laughs, your kisses. Yes, I want to be your friend, and more. I want to feel your arms around me at night, taste your kiss for breakfast, and I want to hear my name on your lips when I make you come apart. I want to study on the couch while you do your homework. I want to fight with you and make up with you. I want to shoulder the burdens your carrying, even the ones you still won’t tell me about, and I want…I want everything.”
“Nothing in my life prepared me for how much I would love you.”
“They had her heart open. Right now. Doctors were touching the most precious thing in my world, and I had zero control.”
“You’re it for me, and it didn’t matter if we were together or not. You’d always be it. You push me away, and I’ll still show up here looking for you because you’re all I want.”
“That’s the thing. I’ll settle for any part you want to give me. That’s how badly I want every part of you.”
“Who the hell was I kidding? I was already on fire for her. My heart had screamed out mine the moment I carried her from the water, and hadn’t quit since.”
“I looked up at him, my chest on fire with how much I loved him, and how little that word seemed to encompass this burning. “This is where you saved me.” “No. This is where you saved me.”
“I choose him. I choose him over living in Peyton’s shadow. I choose him over Will because I finally understand what it is to want someone so badly that you’re willing to risk what we’re going through this very minute. I choose him because he makes me feel alive, and amazing, and me. He makes me remember who I am. And I choose him over you because he can say my name without making me remember that you’d rather I’d died instead of Peyton.”
“I’m begging you. Stop pushing me away, because I’m not going anywhere. I love you, and it’s not the kind of love that wavers. It’s the scary kind that doesn’t fade. I look at you, and I see not just everything I want for my life, but everything I am, because you took the emptiest, darkest pits of my soul and filled them with you. You are as much a part of me as my own heart, and it doesn’t beat without you. You pump through my veins and you fill my lungs. I may have saved you, but you’re the one who breathes for me every day.”
“I love you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. My life started the moment I breathed into you, and I can’t think of a better use for my breath than to use it to say, ‘I love you, for the rest of our lives.”
“Every fucking cell in my body screams out that she belongs with me.”
“Tell me, when he touches you, kisses you, does your skin sing for him? … Does your blood rush, your lips part just thinking about his kiss? Does your body vibrate when he’s close, remembering every orgasm he can wring from you?” I crossed the friendship line, sliding my fingers along her collarbone to rest inside her shirt, above her galloping heart. Her eyes flew open, and her lips parted … “Your heart doesn’t pound like this for him, does it?”
“All of this because of one kiss. One kiss brought my world tumbling down around me. One kiss transformed me into something I hated and broke the man I loved into pieces. One kiss that I could still taste and couldn’t bring myself to regret.”
“I’d be worthy of her, not because she asked me to – she’d never ask me to change – but because she deserved the best man to hold her, understand her, love her.”
“Don’t do it. Don’t you dare say his name. Not now when I can still taste you.”
“I know you from your soul to your skin. Just being friends with you…” I flicked the stud in my tongue across my teeth, trying to find the right words. “I’ve never been more intimate with a woman, and that includes every girl I’ve ever had sex with.”
“If it’s between being numb the rest of my life or burning exquisitely for even a moment, I’ll take the burn. The best things in life are worth the burn, the risk.”
“Does he treat you like a little sister in bed, too? Is that really what you want? A platonic sex life with a guy who uses you as a replacement for your older sister?”
“I can do this. I could be fierce. I used to be, I just had to remember how.”
