Where’s Molly? (2024) is a dark romance novel by H. D. Carlton. Where’s Molly? is Carlton’s sixth novel, taking place in the same universe as her initial Cat & Mouse Duet, which included the novels Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline, and it is considered a spin-off of that series.
A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse Duet…
“Molly Devereaux has been missing for more than two weeks, and police are still searching for the girl who seemed to vanish out of thin air. The world still wants to know… Where’s Molly?”
In my dreams, I never escaped the Oregon woods.
Life after death isn’t easy to accept, especially when I still feel like a ghost.
Now, I live deep in the mountains of Montana—the paradigm of beauty. But they are also the home of horrors.
Horrors that I only unleash at night.
When my pigs are allowed to feast.
It is strongly recommended to read Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline before reading Where’s Molly.

1. IQRA reviews for Where’s Molly
Went in with no expectations and came out pleasantly surprised <3
The characters made the whole book for me. Especially Cage (the MMC) omfds that man was so down bad for her and this was my face the entire time 🥹🥹🥹🥹😮💨😋🤭😌💅
No bc ur telling me he was obsessed, in love, had an elite sense of humour, wholesome asf, supportive and knew how to communicate?! PACK HIM UP BC IM TAKING THIS ONE TO GO 👹👹
And he comes with the most hilarious parent like I was legit doubling over from his mums one liners 😭🙏
Molly was cuteee and I loved her loyalty towards her sister. Her backstory was heartbreaking but the revenge scene was so satisfying. I loved that she got the hea she deserved 🥹🤧❤️🩹
The reason it’s not five stars is bc I’m not particularly fond of past/present time jumps and this wasn’t one of those instances where I loved it either. It’s the reason why it took me more than a day to finish. Idk it kinda breaks the flow of the story for me but it didn’t deter me from reading it tho, I was too invested with the characters to not read what happened.
The pigs were the real MVPs here let’s be real 🎀
ALSO THE EXTENDED EPILOGUE IM GNA CRY IT WAS SO GOOD AHHH I LOVED SEEING THEM ALL AGAIN EVEN IF IT WAS FOR HALF A PAGE 😭😭
2. LARISSA CAMBUSANO reviews for Where’s Molly
i haven’t read a book in one sitting in so long!!!! i forgot this feeling 😭
although this book is so so quick, it didn’t feel too rushed. it felt like a full story and i fell so in love with cage & molly <3 i was so interested in the plot + the romance. and i really liked how it tied in to haunting & hunting.
ps: the last sentence…… got me.
“don’t worry little ghost. i’m going to teach you how to spend forever with me.” !!!!!!!!!
3. EMILYEVERAFTER reviews for Where’s Molly
“Didn’t I already tell you to keep your eyes on me? I’m in the business of making you disappear, not in repeating myself. ” 🥵🫢
Where do I start? I fucking loved every second of this! I’m not sure why, but I have more love for the side characters than I do Addie and Zade.
Molly’s story was absolutely heart breaking, in true H.D Carlton fashion. The price Molly paid to give Lalya the best life was so high.. She deserved this happiness with Cage and her sister. The smut was some of the best I’ve read from this author! I think overall, the writing was better, too.
Cage > Zade.🤷♀️ Every day of the week.
I’ll take Sibby’s book next, please. 🙌
4. ROBYN SIMMONS reviews for Where’s Molly
A Gripping, Suspenseful Thriller with Twists and Turns
Where’s Molly? by H.D. Carlton is an electrifying psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story is both gripping and intense, with well-crafted twists that make it impossible to put down. Carlton’s ability to create suspenseful, high-stakes situations is remarkable, and this book is no exception.
The plot revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Molly, and as the story unfolds, you’re taken on a whirlwind of secrets, lies, and unexpected revelations. The pacing is perfect, constantly ramping up the tension and keeping you guessing at every turn. The characters are complex and multifaceted, making it easy to get emotionally invested in their journey.
One of the standout aspects of this book is Carlton’s skill at creating atmosphere. The writing is immersive, with vivid descriptions that bring the story to life. You can feel the darkness and unease seeping into every scene, adding to the overall suspense.
The twists are executed flawlessly, with surprises that left me gasping. Just when I thought I had figured it all out, Carlton introduced another layer of complexity, making this an unpredictable and exciting read. It’s one of those books that makes you want to immediately discuss it with others once you’ve finished.
If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with strong characters, intricate plots, and unexpected twists, Where’s Molly? is a must-read. H.D. Carlton has crafted a story that will keep you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page.
5. SALEM’S LAIR reviews for Where’s Molly
Loved it!
80 highlights are saying a lot, but still few words.
HD why is it sooo short? I need more!!! Molly is great character and Cage, come one girl I want him! Still it was not so dark as expected, but it was still very good. I would really like to read more about this whole business of Mollys – I’m horror woman sooo I really enjoyed this whole pig eating!
Ending and bonus ending was just amazing and really, please write more books about these two!!
and one last thing, which will probably give me some hate, but
Cage > Zade (I’m sorry 😔 (I’m not really 🫣))
6. DANNY C. reviews for Where’s Molly
Better Than The Original?
Note, its important to know that there is more romantic scenes than steamy in this story.
I was surprised with how much I liked this book, I actually think it might be better than its original sister series Haunting Adeline.
The characters are pretty much like clones to their sister counterparts, except with more depth and just being overall more likeable.
Unlike Adeline, Molly is much more than talk and can be more honest with herself at times.
Cage (male lead) is obsessive, possessive, etc., but unlike Zade, is actually Mostly respectful of Molly.
Both have great back stories and are well fleshed out characters, their dialogue was well written as well.
The ending was so touching and and satisfying, but it’s so important that to get the absolute best ending ever, you have to keep reading until the very end.
I kept thinking “wouldn’t it be cool if this happened?”, but tossed it away, thinking it realistically it wouldn’t happen, but this “secret best ending” gave me everything I wanted! I was ecstatic.
This was a closer to a true dark romance, and a good one at that.
Overall, a good story and one I would recommend.
7. MEGAN reviews for Where’s Molly
Amazing Story
I mad the mistake of reading haunting and hunting Adeline before this one. I wish I would have read them in the correct order, but nevertheless it was amazing get to near Molly’s story. You have once again written a completely enthralling book that I could not put down. H.D. Carlton, keep giving us the smut stories that keep
Your readers hooked!
8. SHAWNA GOMEZ reviews for Where’s Molly
“I’m not broken anymore; I just don’t work the same.”
This is the perfect side quest adventure within, what I like to call, The World of Z. I agree with the recommendation to read The Cat & Mouse Duet first, as events within those books are discussed in this book. The spice is spicy, and Cade is drool-worthy. Molly is a survivor with that wonderful dry sarcastic sense of humor that H.D. Carlton writes so well. Overall, it is a really fun, dirty read that adds to the growing World of Z. I enjoyed it. Plus who doesn’t love a story with pigs named Dill, Chilli, Garlic, Paprika, and Oregano?
9. JEN reviews for Where’s Molly
This was soooo good!!! So why didn’t I give this a 5⭐? Well, one: I’m not a fan of the alternating past and present timelines; it was not confusing but had taken away my focus from time to time, especially when I’m starting to be immersed in a scene. And two, because this feels like a novella despite it being 240+ pages, I really wanted more when it comes to these two, and a HFN ending isn’t enough. 😭 I’m greedy that way. 😂
10. POPPY SABRINA reviews for Where’s Molly
4.5⭐️ 4🌶️
I was lucky to be send this asan ARC but ofc it won’t influence my review 🫶🏽
ugh god HD Carlton can write some fucking SPICE can’t she!
absolutely loved this story!
If you don’t know this follows Molly, who is the girl from the diaries Addie found in hunting Adeline (cat & mouse duet)
we get Molly’s story in this short 213 page novel
I was so pleasantly surprised, I thought this was going to be focused on Mollys time mainly in the house Addie was trapped in- but actually we get a full story, about Mollys childhood, and how her life has panned out years after the journal entries were written
Despite it being short, we switch between past & present so we get the full picture, and understand her relationship with Cade, who btw is ❤️❤️❤️ she writes the BEST men 😮💨
the spice is NEXT LEVEL, the pacing is great, I was so happy to back in this world, loved the cameos from characters we know and love already and also loved the little breadcrumbs left through the book for what’s to come with her next books set in this world 🙌🏼
III. Where’s Molly Quotes by H. D. Carlton
The best book quotes from Where’s Molly by H. D. Carlton
“I will chase away all your nightmares until they grow wary of returning. They will fear me, my little ghost. But you never will.”
“At one point in our lives, we don’t know our soulmates at all. But that doesn’t make them any less of one. Sometimes… sometimes you just know.”
“Because staring into her eyes is the only thing I needed, to convince myself she’s everything I’ll ever want for as long as oxygen invades my lungs. I knew it deep in my bones the day I met her. Even back then, my soul immediately recognized hers as its other half.”
“I hear you’re good at making people disappear.” The deep, male voice is jarring and not what I was expecting. I pull the phone away from my ear, checking the number. It’s unknown. “Who is this?” “Most know me by Z. But you can call me Zade.”
“I call her a little ghost, yet for some reason, I never considered that the brat would actually ghost me.”
“Baby, if you keep playing hard to get, I’ll fucking move in.”
“If I had to hold her hand forever, it wouldn’t be long enough.”
“I want the flames to melt our hands together so she can never let go.”
“I’m not even sure why I’m crying anymore. Because of what could’ve happened? Or because I have to start over once again? Maybe it’s because no matter how hard I try to get my feet firmly beneath me, they always get kicked out. I just… I can’t take this anymore. I don’t want to die, but I don’t want to exist. And I wish with every ounce of my soul that I was never born. That I had never been brought into a world so cold, violent, and full of heartache. And the worst part is that even though I feel dead inside, I’m painfully aware of how alive I am. I dread every night when I fall asleep because I know I have to wake up again and do this life for another day.”
“I don’t want to fix you, Molly. There’s nothing to mend when you’ve already done that yourself. The only thing I will do is ensure there isn’t a single part of you that is empty. Your life, your heart, and your sweet pussy.”
“Don’t be fooled, little ghost, I will own you even after you’ve disappeared. You may vanish, but your soul will always be mine.”
“If a man ever calls you something you don’t like, I’ll fucking kill him. I’ll always respect your boundaries.”
“I want to be the only man on this entire fucking planet that knows what you feel like. And if I’m sharing this knowledge with a single soul still walking this earth, then I will be removing them from it.”
“I chuckle, glancing at Molly and finding her biting back a smile. One of these days, I’ll teach her how to set them free.”
“You will be my ruin, but only I will be your savior.”
“Because I’d tell you anything,” I answer. “There’s not a single thing I’d be able to keep from you. Especially when you look so goddamn beautiful.”
“You’re crazy,” she breathes. “About you,” I correct. “I’m crazy about you.”
“Once that’s done, I proceed to call every hotel within a thirty-mile radius and book them out, too.”
“Most know me by Z. But you can call me Zade.”
“That’s not going to fit.” He grins devilishly. “It’ll fit.”
“Holding her is too addictive, and I haven’t had nearly enough.”
“Never have I had anyone bring me flowers, set up a movie, and rub my feet. It’s not something I even imagined for myself.”
“Walk away from me one more fucking time, Molly, and I’ll make sure you can’t walk at all.”
“I would do anything to show you that you’re mine.”
“Unsurprisingly, I find her skillset in dismembering a person attractive.”
“I will claim every part of you, Molly. And that includes the pieces of you those fuckers tried to take from me.”
My brows pinch. “From you?” I repeat dumbly.
Deliberately, he places a kiss over the bite.
“Don’t be fooled, little ghost, I will own you even after you’ve disappeared. You may vanish, but your soul will always be mine.”“I’m not broken anymore; I just don’t work the same. But there’s nothing wrong with being different.”
“I’m too selfish to share you with anyone, let alone fucking vultures that would risk your safety. I would never put you in danger.”
“She escaped me once, and I let her. I won’t allow it a second time.”
